of the very special, historic relationship between LA CAGE AUX FOLLES Every year at this time – the entire Broadway theatre community comes together to raise money for BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS prior to the annual Easter Bonnet Competition. In 1987 – this now highly anticipated annual fundraising event began backstage at the Palace Theatre when a few of the original Cagelles in the original production of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES decided to amuse themselves between shows with – shall we say – a fashion show. Someone thought also to make it fundraiser and $18,000 was raised for a then fledgling organization called Broadway Cares. 18 EASTER BONNET presentations and $21 million later, the smash, hit revivial of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES at the Marquis Theatre will open this year’s 19th Annual EASTER BONNET COMPETITION returning to the now spectacular event that their beloved predecessors created 18 years ago with uncommon flair, style and backstage glamour Come see LA CAGE as a friend of BC/EFA
