“Everybody can be great…because anybody can se “Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve... You only need a heart full of grace. Whether you can donate time, talents or financial resources, tap our story to join the theatre community in giving back to honor Dr. King's memory.

Because of the pandemic, #redbuckets couldn't be h Because of the pandemic, #redbuckets couldn't be held in theaters across the country. We asked @mcclurerob to share what he would add to his curtain speech if he could give one today.

"Theatre is about empathy. Whether onstage or in the audience, we go to the theatre to step into the shoes of another. It’s in that same spirit that we give to Broadway Cares. In recognition of the profound challenges facing those less fortunate, you’ve enthusiastically put your hard earned money into those signature red buckets for years. Well, amidst some of the most challenging times in modern history, we are virtually holding those buckets out again. While we may not be able to gather in our sacred theaters to do so, we hope you will give with the same generosity you’ve always shown. Broadway Cares supports hundreds of social service organizations all over the country and they will see to it that those funds go directly to where they are needed most. Thank you. Hope to see you back on Broadway in 2021."

Because of the pandemic, #redbuckets couldn't be h Because of the pandemic, #redbuckets couldn't be held in theaters across the country. We asked Alex Brightman to share what he would add to his curtain speech if he could give one today.

"There is no way to sugar coat how tremendously tumultuous this year has been. So I won't. It's been a complete bummer for so many. Even those who found ways to survive and thrive aren't doing it at their full capacity. So everyone could use a little hope for the coming year. Sometimes that hope comes in the form of a dollar. You may not think a dollar is a lot of money, but remember that it's so much more than a dollar for some. For some, it's the only way they are going to hydrate that day. For some, it's the difference between sleeping inside and sleeping outside. It's not a dollar for them. It's another breath of air. So please, if you can, reach into your pockets a little deeper than you're used to and give what you can give. One great tip: if you're a Starbucks drinker, take three coffees out of your week for just one week and donate it to something wonderful. You won't miss it. Trust me."

“This year has kept us feeling stuck, helpless, empty and like we’ve been left out to dry. It has challenged us and scarred us in our own personal ways. And for a lot of us, we are still dealing with how to carry that new heaviness in our day to day lives. The power of togetherness is a reminder that you are not alone. The power of theatre reaches to your home. The power of music continues to be medicine to us. Even though we can’t physically be together, we survive together. And that feels like thriving. This year has been a test on our spirit. And when we feel like we can’t show up, we have the grounding reminder that art always has and always will. Whenever and wherever we may be in our lives.”

“This year was the most difficult one for the theatre industry in a long, long time. And yet, it provided an opportunity for our community to band together, despite not having a stage, despite not having producers behind us, and despite not being in the same room. In this year without theaters, we continued to make theatre.”
