Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life

CHITA RIVERA: The Dancer’s Life opened on Broadway to cheers and rave reviews on Sunday, December 11 th at The Schoenfeld Theatre.

The evening was a fabled Broadway opening seldom seen today. An audience filled with stars, theatre-lovers, fans and colleagues and friends of Ms. Rivera’s who have worked with her in 14 Broadway shows over nearly 50 years, stopped the show with applause again and again before spontaneously rising in unison to a overwhelming standing ovation at the curtain.

The winner of two Tony Awards for Best Performance by an Actress in a musical – for THE RINK (1984) and for her glorious performance as Aurora in THE KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN (1995), Chita has also been one of BC/EFA longest supporters, joining in special events and fundraising since its earliest days in the late 1980’s.

In 2003, Ms Rivera became a BC/EFA Trustee.

The MAC AIDS Fund is one of BC/EFA’s longtime and most generous corporate sponsors.

In honor of Chita’s opening and in recognition of her stalwart support for BC/EFA, Peter Lichtenthal, Global General Manager of MAC Cosmetics, presented her with a $50,000 check from The MAC AIDS Fund BC/EFA at the party following her opening night performance.

Our thanks to Peter Lichtenthal and all at MAC Cosmetics and The MAC AIDS Fund and our love to our friend and Trustee Chita Rivera.
