Letter From The Executive Director

Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS Makes a $100,000 Contribution
to The US Fund for UNICEF in the name of the Broadway community to assist in the Haitian relief efforts.

January 15, 2010

Thanks to the remarkable fundraising efforts theatre community prior to the recent GYPSY OF THE YEAR Competition and the overwhelming generosity of our supporters, BC/EFA has been able to make a $100,000 contribution to UNICEF to support the UN’s Haitian relief efforts.

These – coordinated with those of The Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, the U.S. government and many other organizations – are reaching out to the nearly hundreds of thousands Haitians affected by the Tuesday’s devastating earthquake.

UNICEF’s relief efforts are immediately reaching tens of thousands of the most vulnerable distributing food, kitchen kits and thousands of bags of water to enable the displaced population to prepare food supplies.

In the meantime, with your help, cargo planes are landing with tarpaulins and tents to address the immediate needs of those left homeless, as life-saving and critical relief supplies, blankets, water and sanitation facilities, portable health clinics and vital medical supplies are put into place.

Our contribution to these immediate, essential efforts is helping to put on-going, long-term humanitarian aid in place.

What you have made possible through your fundraising efforts is as if 10,000 phone calls making a $10 contribution had been made by us all at once.

What we do together makes a difference.

Thank you for making our community’s response possible.
