NYU Student Programming Raises Awareness & Funds for BC/EFA
For over five years, New York University has brought HIV/AIDS awareness education to its students through creative programming, specifically though two initiatives, one for freshmen class members called “FYRE* fights AIDS and one for sophomores called ‘More Goes Red.’
Thanks to the efforts of a diligent student planning committee (image #1), the school’s 2008-2009 Academic Year Initiative included a week-long series of programs and events to raise awareness of the AIDS pandemic – including information on testing and prevention, as well as service opportunities on campus and throughout the city. Kicking off on World AIDS Day with an interactive panel presentation of New Yorkers Living with HIV/AIDS and culminating in the second installment of The Best Dance Party Ever (images #2 and #3), NYU students learned more about this important issue and raised over $4,000 for BC/EFA!
