Broadway Barks, the star-studded dog and cat adoption event benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies, will return for its 26th edition this summer to help pets find their fur-ever homes.

The event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, will again take place in Shubert Alley. Festivities begin at 3 pm and celebrity presentations of pets from 25 citywide animal shelters begin after 5 pm. It will be hosted by the legendary Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters, co-founder of Broadway Barks, and Sutton Foster, Tony winner and star of this season’s Once Upon a Mattress. Celebrities scheduled to appear and participating shelters will be announced in the coming weeks

The shelters set to represented at this year’s edition are 1 Love 4 Animals, Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue Inc., Adopt A Boxer Rescue, Animal Care Centers of New York City, Anjellicle Cats Rescue, Best Friends Animal Society, Bideawee, Bobbi & the Strays, Catstoria, City Critters, Francis’s Friends Inc., Hearts & Bones Rescue, Husky House, Linda’s Cat Assistance & Adoption, Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center, Long Island Bulldog Rescue, Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, Muddy Paws Rescue, North Shore Animal League, Pet ResQ Inc., SaveKitty Foundation, Second Chance Rescue, SPCA Westchester, Urban Cat League and Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue.

Broadway Barks, founded by Mary Tyler Moore and Peters, helps many of New York City’s shelter animals find permanent homes by informing New Yorkers about the plight of the thousands of dogs and cats in the metropolitan area.

The event is free. Funds raised from a silent auction, signed memorabilia sales and donations are distributed to the participating shelters and rescue groups.
