But don’t take our word for it. Here are what a few of our past fellows have to say about the development fellowship:
“Broadway Cares provided a nurturing environment where I felt encouraged to ask questions, stay curious and take full advantage of the resources available. Every day that I walked into the office, I felt motivated to learn, grow and be a force for change. Being surrounded by such a supportive, kindhearted and hardworking group of people was truly inspiring.”
– Arely Flores Martinez, fall 2024
“Broadway Cares has supported me in becoming a more confident development professional and I will forever be grateful for their support. I know I will always have a place here and that they will always have a special place in my heart.”
– Rachel Fontenot, summer 2024
“I learned a variety of soft and hard skills that are applicable across my life and career, one of which that surprised me is the ability to think about how to gear communication with different intentions for a variety of audiences. It is something that seems intuitive until you begin to practice and realize that it is a learned skill, one that continually grows and adapts.”
– Jennifer Buritica-Lopez, fall 2023
“The most important skills I took from my time at Broadway Cares were learning how to speak with donors and organizational skills. As a first generation Mexican-American, I am the first one in my family to go to university and work in a professional office space. Never in my four months at Broadway Cares did I feel like I was an outsider. I was brought in with open arms.”
– Jamilli Pacheco-Urquiza, summer 2023
“One of the most surprising things I learned was the sheer power of community support and collaboration. It was inspiring to see how much can be achieved when people come together for a common cause.”
– Mikial Hamilton, spring 2023
“The development fellowship is the perfect opportunity for someone who learns best outside the traditional educational setting. Those who learn by participating in real world situations will excel in this experience because you are doing just that.”
– John Lagucki, fall 2022
