Dear friend,
On Monday evening, some of the brightest stars on Broadway and you, as a member of our audience, stood together in solidarity at the 12th edition of Broadway Backwards. By joining us in this unforgettable evening of song, dance and merriment, you’ve made a difference in the lives of men, women and children here in New York City and across the country.
And you made Broadway Backwards history. This year, your generosity raised a record-shattering $522,870 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York. This is the first time we’ve crossed the half-million dollar threshold for this event.
The dollars you helped raise will immediately be put to good use as Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS embarks on awarding our second round of annual grants later this month. This summer, grants will be awarded to emergency assistance programs, direct services, substance abuse and harm reduction services, and quality of life programs in all 50 states.
Relive the love with highlights from this year’s show, as well as videos of several full numbers (including Cynthia Erivo’s show-stopping finale; wasn’t she incredible?). You can also watch and share them on Facebook. And if you missed buying one of the T-shirts with this year’s beautiful artwork, there are still a few left.
Thank you again for sharing in this historic, warm and wonderful evening. You are proof that what we do together truly does make a difference.
Sincerely,
Tom Viola Executive Director
